The Death of Edward of Middleham, Prince of Wales

Somewhere mid-April (possibly also 9th) in 1484: Edward of Middleham, Prince of Wales, Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall, and 1st Earl of Salisbury probably died in the first half of April 1484 at Middleham Castle, tragically and arguably at the age of 10. He was the only son of Richard III and Anne Neville. Edward was said to be a sickly child and left his father without a direct heir to the throne. Richard III and Anne were not with Edward when he died. While being at Nottingham Castle, it was said they have gone nearly mad with grief upon hearing the news of his passing.
